Formations strengthen the community layer by allowing squadron members to fly together as chosen wingmen, boosting cooperation, engagement, and longer play sessions. Building on the earlier introduction of pilot avatars, this update reflects Ten Square Games’ roadmap-driven approach to systematically expanding the game’s social dimension. Step by step, Wings of Heroes is combining cooperative play with new ways for players to express individuality, reinforcing its foundation as a game designed for long-term growth.

Wing to wing: Formations in Wings of Heroes

The ability to actively create Formations takes the social layer of Wings of Heroes to a new level. The first step was the introduction of Squadrons; now players can invite a teammate to join them in battle as a trusted wingman. Each invitation has a defined time limit, and the invited player can either accept or decline it, with all active invitations visible in a dedicated tab. With this system, cooperative play becomes a core element of the experience – two pilots can now fight side by side, earn victories together, and strengthen bonds through direct teamwork. Formations strengthen the social dimension of the game, encouraging longer play sessions, cooperation, and stronger player retention.

Earlier this year, Wings of Heroes introduced pilot avatars, a long-awaited feature that gave players the ability to personalize their in-game identity and stand out within their squadron. Unlockable through events, competitions, and in-game rewards, avatars give players the ability to showcase achievements and express their style, deepening the sense of belonging within the community.

Together, Formations and pilot avatars represent milestones in the ongoing evolution of Wings of Heroes. Both features were strongly requested by players and directly answer their needs, proving that the development team listens closely to community feedback. These updates follow the recently launched PvE mode (Total Defense) and highlight Ten Square Games’ consistent, roadmap-driven approach to development.
